Gabi hails "important" victory

Gabi has said that Atletico Madrid's victory over Real Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup was important for the growth of the club.

The La Liga holders sealed a 2-1 aggregate win over their city rivals thanks to an early strike from Mario Mandzukic in Friday evening's second leg.

"It's an important title and we continue to grow," Gabi told reporters. "Over two legs we can compete with anyone, in a League it is more difficult. It's very important for us."

Atletico had not won the Super Cup since 1985.
