Atletico Madrid fined for lighter incident

La Liga side Atletico Madrid have been handed a £490 fine for the incident which saw Real Madrid player Cristiano Ronaldo struck with a lighter thrown by the crowd.

The incident happened during the Madrid derby on Tuesday night, which saw Real qualify for the Copa del Rey final with a 2-0 victory at Vicente Calderon.

While the club have yet to identify the member of the crowd responsible for throwing the object, the Spanish football disciplinary committee has moved to hand the fine to the outfit.

According to the club, an investigation into finding the guilty party is ongoing.
