Ernesto Valverde wants Atletico Madrid title win

Athletic Bilbao boss Ernesto Valverde has revealed that he wants Atletico Madrid to win La Liga this season.

Atletico beat Bilbao 2-1 at San Mames on Saturday evening, and Valverde has praised the strength of Diego Simeone's side.

"There was a difference in strength and we couldn't stop Diego Costa," Valverde told reporters.

"We tried but they were stronger than us in every single aspect. With Diego Costa, your defenders have to go all out to stop him.

"I'd like Atletico to win La Liga. They deserve it and if they stay first until the end of the season, they will. Seeing as how they're an alternative to the big two, I suppose it's ok."

Atletico are currently one point clear of Barcelona at the top of La Liga.
