Aston Villa fail in Christian Benteke bid?

Aston Villa will reportedly have to go back to the drawing board after they had a bid for Genk striker Christian Benteke rejected.

Villa boss Paul Lambert is believed to be keen on the 21-year-old, who has played for the Belgium Under-21 international side.

It is understood that Villa's rebuffed offer has caused the forward to go on strike as he attempts to force through a move to the Premier League, according to Sky Sports News.

Meanwhile, the Midlands outfit are due to take on Tranmere Rovers in the second round of the League Cup this evening.
