Bas Dost: 'Aston Villa want to sign me'

Heerenveen striker Bas Dost has claimed that Aston Villa are interested in signing him.

Villa were linked with the 22-year-old, who is currently the leading goalscorer in the Eredivisie, last week.

Dost has now revealed that the Villans have firmed up their interest by making contact with the player's agent.

"It is positive news," he told Voetbal Primeur. "You hear this and of course it is nice to know they are interested.

"Aston Villa is a club I don't know very well, but they look good.

"I have spoken with my agent and we won't be discussing anything during the season."

Dost joined his current employers from Heracles Almelo in 2010.
