Report: Aston Villa plan move for Mainz 05 goalkeeper Loris Karius

Aston Villa are planning to make a bid for Mainz 05 goalkeeper Loris Karius when the transfer window reopens in January.

Tim Sherwood is thought to be unhappy with the form of current number one Brad Guzan and the Daily Telegraph claims that the signing of a new goalkeeper will be the club's priority.

The 22-year-old was on the books at Manchester City before signing for Mainz in 2012, and he has made 62 appearances for the Bundesliga club.

Arsenal reportedly held an interest in the player earlier this year.
