Carlos Sanchez: 'I've watched Aston Villa games since 2001'

Carlos Sanchez reveals how he has watched Aston Villa games since 2001 thanks to compatriot Juan Pablo Angel's time with the West Midlands club.

Aston Villa's newest signing Carlos Sanchez has revealed that he has been watching the West Midlands club since he was a teenager.

Sanchez spoke of his admiration of former Colombian and Villa striker Juan Pablo Angel, who played for the club for six years.

"I began to watch Villa games when he came in 2001. [Juan Pablo Angel] was a goalscorer who was very important to this club and I followed his time here because he was always scoring goals," he told Sky Sports News.

"It was always my aim to play in this country and in this league and I know Villa well as Juan Pablo also played here."

Sanchez signed for Villa on Friday in a four-year deal for a fee of £4.7m.
