Richardson to have medical with Villa?

Aston Villa have reportedly edged closer to signing Kieran Richardson after scheduling a medical with the Fulham utility man.

The 29-year-old is believed to have been attracting interest from a number of clubs since Fulham's relegation to the Championship, with West Ham United and West Bromwich Albion both being linked with a move in recent weeks.

According to The Mirror, Villa's decision to appoint Roy Keane as an assistant to Paul Lambert, is reported to have played a key factor in Richardson's decision to begin talks.

Richardson played with Keane at Manchester United, and was also managed by the Irishman during his time at Sunderland.

A medical is scheduled for Friday, but it remains unclear whether Richardson has agreed personal terms with his potential new employers.
