Remi Garde: 'Aston Villa job was a trap'

Former Aston Villa manager Remi Garde feels that he walked into a "trap" when taking over from Tim Sherwood in November 2015.

Former Aston Villa manager Remi Garde has said that he would like to coach in England again, as long as he has "better conditions" than his short-lived spell at Villa Park.

Garde replaced Tim Sherwood in charge of the club in November of 2015, but was unable to turn the team's fortunes around and was sacked five months later with Villa still bottom of the table.

The former Arsenal defender described the situation as a "trap", but insists that it has not put him off looking for another job in England.

"You know I really like this country, I played there a little bit. I had a very short time as a coach over there," he told TF1.

"I would really like to coach in England again in better conditions than at Aston Villa. Yes, it looked like a trap that I wasn't able to figure out before accepting the job. I was too enthusiastic, it will serve me well as a lesson learned."

Garde picked up just three wins in 23 matches during his time in charge of Villa.
