Micah Richards upbeat despite Manchester United loss

Micah Richards believes that Aston Villa's new "exciting players" can help the club recover from their home defeat at the hands of Manchester United.

Aston Villa skipper Micah Richards has insisted that supporters have plenty to be excited about this season.

The Villans slipped to a 1-0 defeat at home to Manchester United on Friday night, with Adnan Januzaj scoring the only goal of the game.

Despite the setback, which comes on the back of an opening-day win over Bournemouth last weekend, Richards is remaining in a positive mood.

"If you look at our team from the beginning of last season to this season there are some really exciting players," he is quoted as saying by BBC Sport.

"Good ball players in midfield with power and pace all over. It is exciting times, not the result we wanted but we move on."

Villa have now won just one of their past 40 Premier League games against Manchester United.
