Paul Lambert not focused on his Aston Villa future

Lambert not focused on contract

Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert has insisted that he is not thinking about his personal situation at the Midlands club.

The Scotsman, who managed to keep struggling Villa in the Premier League following his first 12 months in charge, has claimed that he has not spoken to chairman Randy Lerner about his future.

"It's not a conversation I have had with Randy," the Birmingham Mail quotes Lambert as saying. "I have great respect for him.

"I signed three years here, there's two more to go. But it's not about me. This football club is more important than anyone. My job is to keep building it."

Meanwhile, it appears that one of Lambert's first tasks will be to keep hold of Christian Benteke, who has recently been linked with a move to Liverpool.
