Aston Villa goalkeeper Brad Guzan has admitted that his focus is on the team, and not his own personal stability, with his Villa contract expiring at the end of the season.
Guzan joined the club in the summer of 2008 but has found himself as back-up to Brad Friedel and Shay Given in the past three seasons.
A hamstring injury to Given, however, has given the American a run in the side and Guzan is keen to impress.
"The club has spoken to my agent, but to me it's not about contracts. It's about playing well, helping the team and proving my worth," Guzan told Sky Sports News.
"Everyone wants to play first-team football and the opportunity to have a string of games. But I've been behind two of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League."
Guzan looks certain to start when Villa host Liverpool in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
