Brett Holman is hoping that he can start scoring more goals for Aston Villa after grabbing his first for the club at the weekend.

Aston Villa's Brett Holman has admitted that he should score more goals for the club.

The Australian midfielder got off the mark for Paul Lambert's side during Saturday's 1-1 draw with Queens Park Rangers at Loftus Road.

However, as he plays in an advanced role, the 28-year-old feels that now is the time for him to increase his goalscoring contribution.

"You don't want to really concentrate on goals because your strikers obviously are the main people who will score. But it's always nice to chip in and grab a couple," he told the club's official website. "Attacking players always want to hit the net and it gives you great confidence.

"I've scored goals for every club I've been with. Ratio-wise I wouldn't have a clue what my stats are but I have certainly scored for all my teams.

"I think as an attacking player I've always pitched in with goals. I'm happy with what I've done at previous clubs and hopefully I can get a few more for this club."

Holman joined Villa on a free transfer from AZ Alkmaar during the summer.
