Monaco deny Radamel Falcao release clause

Monaco play down reports that Radamel Falcao has a clause in his contract that would allow him to leave at the end of the season.

Monaco have quashed the rumours that striker Radamel Falcao could leave the club at the end of the season.

The Colombian moved to Stade Louis II from Atletico Madrid for £55m during the summer, but recent reports have claimed that the 27-year-old is already eyeing a return to Spain.

However, Monaco vice-president Vadim Vasilyev insists that Falcao does not have a clause in his contract that would allow him to depart the French outfit once the campaign is finished.

"There's no clause in his contract that might allow him to leave after a year," Vasilyev told L'Equipe. "It wouldn't make any sense to build a project around a player who could leave us after one season.

"There are always people who have an interest in these rumours. I would just remind you that negotiations between Tottenham and Real Madrid [for the transfer of Gareth Bale] were very difficult."

Falcao has scored four goals in Monaco's opening five matches so far this term.
