Bernardo Silva extends Monaco contract to 2020

Portuguese international Bernardo Silva extends his contract with Monaco until 2020.

Portuguese international midfielder Bernardo Silva has extended his contract with Ligue 1 side Monaco until 2020.

The 20-year-old joined from Benfica last summer on an initial loan deal that was made permanent in January and has signed a one-year extension with the principality club.

The attacking midfielder impressed in the opening game of the season, coming on to score in the 2-1 victory over Nice.

Silva told the club's website: I am very happy to extend my contract with Monaco, it is the club that has allowed me to show my worth and discover the Champions League.

"It's a very special day for me. I will give my all this season to help the team be as competitive as possible and achieve their goals."

The youngster played 45 games in all competitions for Monaco last season, scoring 10 goals before being selected in the European Under-21 Championship's Team of the Tournament during the summer.
