Claudio Ranieri: 'Point not good enough against Montpellier HSC'

AS Monaco coach Claudio Ranieri says that the point earned by his side during their 1-1 draw with Montpellier HSC wasn't good enough.

AS Monaco coach Claudio Ranieri has said that the point earned by his side during their 1-1 draw with Montpellier HSC last night wasn't good enough.

Layvin Kurzawa had given the visitors a 1-0 lead after a scrappy first half, but M'Baye Niang was on hand to equalise for Montepellier in the 68th minute to earn his side a draw against the title hopefuls.

"We have lost five points in our last two matches. That's football. We controlled the match, had good chances to score goals, but that's football," Ranieri told reporters.

"The important thing is to think ahead to our coming matches. We played well, controlled possession well.

"Montpellier are fighting to avoid the drop, so they played an intense match. They got a point which is good for them, not for us."

Monaco are currently sitting in second place in the Ligue 1 table.
