Wenger coy on striker pursuit

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger was coy on reports that he is ready to buy a striker to replace the injured Olivier Giroud.

The French forward suffered a broken foot in the 2-2 draw against Everton on Saturday and when asked if he will be delving into the market, the Gunners boss said that he was unsure.

He told Sky Sports News: "The news is that he had surgery today, that surgery went well, but he will be out for - maybe to be competitive at the top, top level - end of December, beginning of January.

"Look, I don't know yet. We try to look around but we want quality and we have quality. We have fortunately Theo Walcott coming back soon. I believe Yaya Sanogo will have an impact this season. We have Lukas Podolski, we have Joel Campbell who can play centre-forward.

"To find players who are better than the players we have would be very difficult now."

Arsenal booked their place in the Champions League on Wednesday with a 1-0 win over Besiktas.
