Ozil talks 'delayed until after Euro 2016'

Mesut Ozil will not begin talks over a new and improved contract at Arsenal until after this summer's European Championship, according to a report.

It had been suggested earlier this week that the Gunners were worried the Germany international was deliberately stalling on agreeing fresh terms.

However, according to Sky Sports News, both parties are happy to wait until later in the summer before beginning negotiations to keep the 27-year-old in place for the long term.

Ozil, who joined Arsenal from Real Madrid in a £42.4m move in 2013, has two years left to run on his current deal at the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners kicked off their summer spending by announcing the capture of Granit Xhaka from Borussia Monchengladbach on Wednesday afternoon, while Alvaro Morata has also been linked with a switch.
