Jose Mourinho has revealed that Real Madrid would let midfielder Nuri Sahin leave if a suitable offer arrives.

Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho has revealed that the club would let midfielder Nuri Sahin leave if a suitable offer arrives.

The Turkey international joined the Spanish giants from German champions Borussia Dortmund last summer but failed to make any impact at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Sahin has been linked with a move away from Madrid, with Arsenal reportedly interested in the 23-year-old, and Mourinho is willing to listen to offers for the midfielder.

"The market is open until August 31 and I never liked that because you start the pre-season and the league and it leaves time for lots of player to leave," the Portuguese told reporters at a press conference on Friday.

"I want a squad of 20 players plus goalkeepers because I want to leave one slot open and leave the door open for the younger players.

"Someone has to come out and try to be honest with players. Nuri is in the group of players who are living in a grey area, and if a good opportunity to play elsewhere comes along for him, we believe that it would be better for him to take it and go elsewhere to play his football this season."

Madrid are in Lisbon on Friday to take on Benfica in the Eusebio Cup.
