Borussia Dortmund reportedly concede defeat in the race to sign highly-rated Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard amid concerns over the player's hefty price tag.

Borussia Dortmund have reportedly withdrawn their interest in Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard amid concerns over the player's hefty price tag.

The 22-year-old enjoyed a terrific return of 21 goals and 12 assists in the Scottish Premiership during the 2019-20 season and is naturally being linked with moves to several top European sides.

Dortmund were one of the clubs rumoured to be weighing up an approach for Edouard, but the financial implications of the coronavirus pandemic could hinder a move for the highly-rated forward.

SPORT1 report that the Bundesliga giants have conceded defeat in their pursuit of Edouard, whom they had supposedly identified as a potential successor to Erling Braut Haaland.

Haaland arrived at the Westfalenstadion only six months ago, but the Norwegian has been linked with big-money moves to Real Madrid and Manchester United following his prolific goalscoring exploits for Dortmund.

Edouard, who still has another two years to run on his contract with Celtic, is reported to have garnered the interest of Arsenal, Everton and Leicester City ahead of the summer transfer window.
