Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta reportedly gives the Gunners the green light to make a move for unsettled Barcelona attacker Philippe Coutinho.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is reportedly keen for the Gunners to make a move for Barcelona attacker Philippe Coutinho.

The former Liverpool man is out of contract at Camp Nou in 2023 and continues to be strongly linked with a move back to the Premier League.

Arsenal were tipped to do battle for Coutinho's signature last year and are supposedly preparing to reignite their interest once more, although they may face competition from Tottenham Hotspur.

According to Fichajes, Arteta has now given the club the green light to sign Coutinho in 2022, with the Gunners boss believing that he can 'recover' the Brazilian's best form.

The report adds that Coutinho is not in Xavi's Barcelona plans moving forward, and the Blaugrana are increasingly likely to sanction a sale next year.

The 29-year-old boasts 25 goals and 14 assists in 106 games for Barcelona across all competitions but has only started five La Liga games this term.
