Arsenal, Liverpool 'vying for Xherdan Shaqiri loan deal'

Arsenal, Liverpool 'vying for Shaqiri'

Arsenal and Liverpool are reportedly set to compete for the services of Xherdan Shaqiri, with Bayern Munich expected to allow the midfielder to leave on loan in January.

Bayern president Franz Beckenbauer had revealed that the Swiss international was likely to leave in the New Year.

However, The Mirror claims that manager Pep Guardiola is willing to allow Shaqiri to make an initial loan switch for a fee of £1.5m before completing a possible £12.5m permanent deal in the summer.

Arsenal and Liverpool are among those clubs said to be interested in the 23-year-old's services, but they are likely to face competition from Napoli and Atletico Madrid.

Shaqiri recently hinted that he wanted to move to Liverpool last summer, but a deal failed to materialise.
