Arsenal's preparations for the new Premier League season ended in a 2-1 defeat away to Benfica.

Robin Van Persie gave the Gunners the lead at the break, tapping in from a Kieran Gibbs cross.

The home side levelled just after the interval with a Pablo Aimar side-footed finish.

The Portuguese side went ahead when ex-Barcelona player Nolito put the ball past Lukasz Fabianski's near post.

Arsenal begin the new season next Saturday away at Newcastle United, a fixture at which the Gunners squandered a four-goal lead to draw 4-4 last season.
