Xhaka 'refusing to apologise to Arsenal fans'

Granit Xhaka is reportedly refusing to issue an apology to Arsenal fans for his behaviour in the club's 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace.

The midfielder was substituted off and walked off the pitch slowly, prompting boos from home supporters.

Xhaka threw his armband at Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and cupped his ear to the crowd before swearing at them as he left the field, ripping his shirt off and dropping it as he stormed down the tunnel.

Unai Emery is thought to have called Xhaka after the game in an attempt to convince him to apologise for his actions, but the midfielder has refused, according to The Sun.

The Spaniard is under increasing pressure as Arsenal turn in poor performances and he is considering stripping Xhaka of the captaincy but fears player backlash after the Swiss was elected leader in a vote.
