Bradford win 3-2 on penalties

Arsene Wenger keen to avoid penalties

Arsene Wenger says that he doesn't want Arsenal to be taken to penalties in the Capital One Cup by Bradford City.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has admitted that he doesn't want to face Bradford City in a penalty shootout at Valley Parade.

The two sides meet in the Capital One Cup quarter-finals on Tuesday night, with the Gunners going into the tie as colossal favourites over their League Two opponents.

However, Wenger believes that the Bantams will have a great chance of progressing to the next round should the match end in spot kicks.

"We have to win the game in normal time. They have gained confidence in these types of competitions and confidence plays a big part in that. Hopefully we won't need penalties," Wenger said.

"Bradford are a force in their league, they are a team who play very good football and very efficient as well. We take them very seriously. They are very efficient at set pieces, so we will have to be very strong on that."

Bradford defeated Wigan Athletic in the fourth round of the competition on penalties.
