Arsene Wenger: 'Sharing of goals boosts morale'

Arsene Wenger claims that the sharing of goals among his players is a positive development for Arsenal.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes that the sharing of goals among his players is a positive aspect of his side.

Gervinho has scored five goals for the Gunners so far this season, while Lukas Podolski and Theo Walcott have found the target four and three times respectively.

This suggests that Arsenal have compensated for the loss of striker Robin van Persie so far this season, and Wenger notes this as something positive.

"Yes, [sharing the goals is a good thing] because when Van Persie was injured it's not only that you can't score goals anymore, it's the psychological consequences on the morale of the team," said Wenger.

"Players ask you, 'does Van Persie play on Saturday or not' when he has two or three days out.

"We have bought Podolski and [Olivier] Giroud. We hope always that Walcott can improve his number of goals, Gervinho as well. [Santi] Cazorla will get a few. He gets in good positions and does not always finish. But he looks like he can score goals."

Arsenal are at West Ham United in the Premier League on Saturday.
