The Premier League announce that Villa Park will host the potential playoff between Arsenal and Chelsea.

The Premier League have announced that Aston Villa's home ground of Villa Park will host the potential playoff between Arsenal and Chelsea on May 26.

The two London rivals will have to go head to head in a one-off clash to determine who secures the automatic Champions League qualification place if they both finish the season on the same points, same goal difference and goals scored in the league.

A statement from the Premier League said: "The Premier League has consulted with the two clubs throughout the process of planning for this potential match with all parties in agreement that, should it be required, it should take place as soon as possible after the end of the season.

"Discussions with London-based stadia did take place as part of that process but limited availability and calendar restrictions, combined with the desire to use a large capacity ground that has experience in organising and delivering neutral matches, rendered Villa Park the most suitable choice."

It has also been confirmed that if the playoff is needed, both clubs will be allocated an equal number of tickets.
