Carlos Vela to leave Arsenal

Carlos Vela says that he will not return to Arsenal after his loan spell with Real Sociedad expires.

Carlos Vela will not return to Arsenal after his loan spell with Real Sociedad expires this summer.

The Mexican international revealed that he has opted out of his country's Olympics campaign to look for a new club.

Vela has spent much of his Arsenal career out on loan - with stints at Salamanca, Osasuna and West Bromwich Albion - and is now seeking a permanent deal at a new club.

Mexico's national teams director Hector Gonzalez said: "He told us that he does not want to play for Arsenal and he will go to a different club.

"He asked [not to be called up] so he can play the pre-season and meet his new manager at his new club, because it is almost sure he will not continue on at Real Sociedad.

"Carlos Vela asked on a personal and professional level that he not be selected for any of the Mexican national teams."

Vela has earned 35 caps for Mexico since his senior team debut in 2007, scoring nine goals.
