Robin van Persie must find the net three times in the his next two matches to break Alan Shearer's goalscoring record for a calender year.

Arsenal captain Robin van Persie requires three more goals this year to break Alan Shearer's Premier League goalscoring record for a calender year.

The Dutchman has 34 goals throughout 2011, two short of the 36 strikes that former England skipper Shearer managed while playing for Blackburn Rovers in 1995.

Van Persie has two more chances to break the record, starting with today's home fixture against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The Gunners are also in action on Saturday when Queens Park Rangers visit the Emirates Stadium.
