Marco Silva issues word of warning to captain Troy Deeney

Watford manager Marco Silva suggests that he is unhappy with Troy Deeney following the comments made by his skipper regarding last week's opponents Arsenal.

Marco Silva has warned Watford captain Troy Deeney that he must show opponents "respect" in the wake of his public criticism of Arsenal last weekend.

The 29-year-old claimed that the Gunners 'lacked cojones' in Saturday's Premier League clash at Vicarage Road, which the hosts came back from behind to win 2-1.

Silva was not entirely happy with the remarks made by Deeney to BT Sport after the match, however, issuing a word of warning to the former Walsall striker and the rest of his teammates.

"Troy Deeney knows my opinion on this, my opinion will stay between me and him," he told reporters. "But I spoke to him about everything and it is finished. It is important for us and a club for our players to speak about our work and what we do as a team.

"For my players we must look inside and not outside and respect ourselves as well. That moment Troy gave his opinion and spoke is finished now. Troy is honest in his job and what he needs to do."

Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has since hit back at Deeney's remarks, insisting that they are not justified.
