Nacho Monreal "surprised" by Calum Chambers's quality

Arsenal defender Nacho Monreal has admitted that he has been taken aback by Calum Chambers's quality.

The 19-year-old signed from Southampton for around £16m in the summer, and the Spanish left-back believes that the youngster can shine for the Gunners for many years to come after watching him at close quarters.

He told the club's official website: "Calum has been a good surprise for me because I didn't meet him too much and also he's younger.

"He's played like he's played for a long time in the Premier League. He's a good player and an important player for us now and in the future because he's younger."

Arsene Wenger's side host Manchester City on Saturday.
