Ljungberg: 'Arsenal shouldn't celebrate fourth place'

Former Arsenal midfielder Freddie Ljungberg has claimed that the current side should not be celebrating a fourth-place finish.

The Gunners saw off a tough challenge from rivals Tottenham Hotspur to secure Champions League qualification, sparking scenes of jubilation at the end of the season.

However, Ljungberg believes that it did not warrant a celebration, insisting that he is of the opinion that no trophies mean a failure.

"I'm not too happy about them celebrating fourth place," the Swede told reporters.

"I'm from the old school where, if you don't win a trophy every year, then it is a big failure.

"We will see what happens in the summer and hopefully Arsenal will have a better team next season."

Ljungberg spent nine years at Arsenal from 1998 to 2007, winning two Premier League titles and three FA Cups.
