Arsenal midfielder Mohamed Elneny says that Sunday's Community Shield victory over Chelsea will give the Gunners "a great push forward" ahead of the new league season.

Arsenal midfielder Mohamed Elneny has said that Sunday's Community Shield victory over Chelsea will stand the Gunners in good stead for the start of the 2017-18 Premier League season.

Following a 1-1 draw at Wembley, Arsenal overcame Chelsea on penalties to land the 2017 Community Shield crown.

Elneny has said that the win will give his team "a great push forward" ahead of the start of their Premier League campaign, which will begin at home to Leicester City on Friday night.

"We had the motivation to win the game against the league winners - Chelsea - and especially [because it was] almost a week before the start of the league," Elneny told reporters. "Winning the game will give us such a great push forward before the start of the new season. It will help us to start it in the best possible way."

Sead Kolasinac cancelled out a strike from Victor Moses to leave the two rivals level at the end of 90 minutes, before Arsenal won the resulting shootout 4-1 under the new 'ABBA' method.
