Danny Welbeck stresses Arsenal caution

Danny Welbeck urges his Arsenal teammates to take each game as it comes if they want to maintain their ascent up the Premier League table.

Danny Welbeck has warned his Arsenal teammates to focus on the present if they want to continue their ascent up the Premier League table.

Welbeck was on the scoresheet as the Gunners beat in-form West Ham United 2-1 on Sunday to move level on points with fourth-placed Southampton.

Arsene Wenger's side travel to the Saints on New Year's Day, and the 24-year-old says that taking each game as it comes could be key to their Champions League qualification hopes.

"The most important thing for us is to concentrate on the next game because we can't afford to look too far ahead." he told Arsenal's official website.

"We have just got to make sure that we're ready for each and every game.

"The win [at West Ham] puts us back in amongst it and we need to be further up the table. We want to be gaining points and put the pressure on the teams around us."

Southampton went down 1-0 at the Emirates Stadium when the sides met earlier this month.
