Santi Cazorla: Full-backs are "pivotal" at Arsenal

Arsenal playmaker Santi Cazorla says that the full-backs are "pivotal" in helping the team attack.

Arsenal playmaker Santi Cazorla feels that the full-backs at the club have an important role to play in helping them attack.

Manager Arsene Wenger has preferred to use a host of creative central midfielders this season, such as Tomas Rosicky, Jack Wilshere and Mesut Ozil, following injuries to Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Theo Walcott.

Cazorla feels that such a system means that a lot must be provided from the full-backs at the club.

"I believe that full backs have a pivotal role in our team," Cazorla told Arsenal Player.

"Jack Wilshere, Tomas Rosicky or myself are not sticking strictly to the touchline. Therefore we open up spaces so our full backs have a corridor where they can go up and down.

"Our ball possessions are long but they can break through by surprise. That's why full backs are really important for our team. You can see that every game."

Arsenal currently lead the Premier League.
