Brazil manager Tite has shot down reports claiming that he is in line to take over from Mikel Arteta as Arsenal boss.

Brazil manager Tite has rubbished reports linking him with a move to Arsenal as a replacement for Mikel Arteta.

The 60-year-old is due to step down from his Selecao post at the end of the 2022 World Cup and was reportedly being lined up by Edu as a possible successor to Arteta.

However, Arteta is widely expected to be handed a new deal at the Emirates Stadium amid links with Paris Saint-Germain, and Tite has now apologised to the Spaniard and Arsenal for the 'lies' that were told.

"I am sad because this information is broadcasted to the public and it is a lie. The information is a lie," Tite told reporters ahead of Brazil's clash with Bolivia.

"I know the responsibility that bears at Brazil's national team. Sorry Arsenal, sorry Arteta, this is not true, it didn't come from us. There's absolutely nothing."

Tite has now taken charge of 71 matches for Brazil - winning 53 of them - and his side sit four points clear of Argentina at the top of the CONMEBOL World Cup Qualifying standings.
