Pep Guardiola: 'Claudio Bravo to start in EFL Cup final'

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola confirms that Claudio Bravo will start in goal for the EFL Cup final against Arsenal on Sunday.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has confirmed that Claudio Bravo will start in goal for the EFL Cup final against Arsenal on Sunday.

Bravo, who has been overshadowed in the Premier League by Ederson, has featured seven times in cup competitions for the Citizens this term.

Guardiola told reporters, however, that he wants to reward Bravo for his performances in the cup so far this season, particularly for his penalty saves against Wolverhampton Wanderers at the last-16 stage.

"We are in the Carabao Cup final thanks to him, so he is going to play," the Spaniard said. "I cannot forget what happened against Wolves. All the top clubs need two good keepers. You cannot survive with just one. He might be injured or suspended.

"I know it's not easy but [Bravo] has been perfect and training good, because he knows he always has to be ready."

City will meet Arsenal shortly after their cup meeting in a Premier League game at the beginning of March.
