Arsene Wenger confirms cruciate knee ligament injury for Carl Jenkinson

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger confirms that Carl Jenkinson injured a cruciate knee ligament while playing on loan for West Ham United.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed that defender Carl Jenkinson has damaged a cruciate knee ligament.

The right-back suffered the injury in last weekend's 2-2 draw against Manchester City while playing on loan for West Ham United.

He has now returned to parent club Arsenal and will receive treatment with the Gunners, meaning that his season-long loan at West Ham is at an end.

Wenger was speaking to the media ahead of tomorrow's FA Cup fourth-round tie against Burnley, a match in which he said David Ospina would start in goal and Mohamed Elneny could possibly make his debut following a move from Basel earlier this month.

Danny Welbeck and Francis Coquelin are also closing in on returns, with Jack Wilshere and Santi Cazorla the only two definitely out for the Clarets' visit.

Arsenal currently have odds of 5/1 with William Hill sports betting to win a third successive FA Cup.
