Arsenal sustain fresh injury blow as attacker leaves on stretcher in Man United clash

Time to get the chequebook out? Arsenal suffer new injury against Man United

Arsenal have been dealt yet another attacking injury concern, as Gabriel Jesus came off with a suspected knee issue in the Gunners' FA Cup clash with Manchester United.

The Brazil international started on the right-hand side of the hosts' attack against the Red Devils, joining Kai Havertz and Gabriel Martinelli in the offensive trident.

Jesus returned to the first XI in place of Leandro Trossard at the Emirates, but the 27-year-old's race was run with fewer than 40 minutes on the clock due to an apparent knee issue.

Jesus seemingly sustained his injury during a clash with Bruno Fernandes, and the problem was serious enough to require a stretcher, as Miekl Arteta threw on Raheem Sterling.

The severity of the striker's issue is yet to be determined, but he will almost certainly be unavailable for the Premier League North London derby against Tottenham Hotspur in midweek as he begins an expected spell on the sidelines.

Jesus has struggled with a spate of knee issues since joining Arsenal, undergoing surgery after sustaining a serious injury at the 2022 World Cup and needing to go under the knife for another minor procedure in the summer of 2023.

Arsenal will already be missing Ethan Nwaneri and Bukayo Saka for the clash with Spurs, who needed extra time to defeat National League side Tamworth 3-0 in their FA Cup third-round tie.
