Arsenal team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Aston Villa

Arsenal injury, suspension list vs. Aston Villa

Arsenal return to Premier League action on Saturday afternoon with a meeting against Aston Villa in the West Midlands.

Mikel Arteta's side will be making their second trip to the area in the space of a few days after their defeat at Wolverhampton Wanderers on Tuesday night.

While the setback at Molineux has resulted in the Gunners dropping further off the pace, victory over one of their current top-flight rivals will get the club back on track.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up all of Arsenal's latest injury and suspension news ahead of the encounter at Villa Park.

Pablo Mari

Status: Minor doubt Type of injury: Calf Possible return date: February 6 (vs. Villa)

Despite his recent return to training after a calf injury, Mari was left out of the squad on Tuesday night. However, taking no risks on the Spaniard in midweek should allow Arteta to select the centre-back in his squad at the weekend.

Kieran Tierney

Status: Major doubt Type of injury: Calf Possible return date: February 6 (vs. Villa)

Like Mari, Tierney has been suffering with a calf problem, something which kept him out on Tuesday's match. The Scotland international was never in contention for the game at Molineux, and it appears unlikely that he will be risked on Saturday.

Mat Ryan

Status: Minor doubt Type of injury: Hip Possible return date: February 6 (vs. Villa)

Ryan missed out on a substitute outing on Tuesday because of a hip injury. While the Australian stopper is pushing to feature on Saturday, the recent arrival may have to be kept in reserve by his manager.

ARSENAL'S SUSPENSION LIST

David Luiz

Status: Out Possible return date: February 14 (vs. Leeds United)

Luiz was controversially sent off for a professional foul against Wolves, his third red card in just over 18 months at Arsenal. The nature of the incident means that he will serve a one-match ban.

Bernd Leno

Status: Out Possible return date: February 14 (vs. Leeds)

Later in the match at Molineux, Leno was handed a straight red card for handling the ball, somewhat calamitously, outside of the penalty area. Like Luiz, the goalkeeper should return for the game against Leeds on February 14.
