Mikel Arteta: 'FA Cup win would be turning point for club'

Mikel Arteta believes that success in the FA Cup could be a turning point for Arsenal.

Arsenal midfielder Mikel Arteta has claimed that winning the FA Cup this season could be a turning point for the club.

The Gunners suffered disappointment on Tuesday when they were knocked out of the Champions League at the hands of Bayern Munich but Arteta believes that a triumph in the FA Cup could start a new era of success for a club who have not lifted a trophy since 2005.

"I think it would be a turning point for the club, because [for] such a long time we don't win anything. It gives you a lift, gives you belief that you can start to go in the right direction and hopefully we can do it," Arteta told reporters.

"We have a great chance, there is still a month to go and some really tough games coming up.

"That is why it is important to get some momentum for that moment and get there with the belief and in good form."

Arsenal face Wigan Athletic in the semi-finals of the competition.
