Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger vows to attack Bayern Munich

Arsene Wenger says that Arsenal have little choice but to attack Pep Guardiola's Bayern Munich in an upcoming Champions League clash.

Arsene Wenger has told Arsenal that only a "great performance" will do as the Gunners look to beat Bayern Munich at the Emirates and keep alive their Champions League hopes.

Wenger's men sit bottom of Group F after suffering shock defeats by Dinamo Zagreb and Olympiacos in their first two games, with Tuesday's opponents Bayern top on six points.

With nine points left on offer after the visit of the 2013 champions, another loss would give them a bigger mountain to climb, and the Frenchman warns that it is time to go all out on Pep Guardiola's side.

"The confidence level is there, the needed result is there as well – we know exactly what is required [because] a 0-0 is not even a good result. To score goals, we have to attack," he told the club's official website.

"It is true that [we have delivered big results] before, but we want to do it again because we feel a bit that the pain inflicted [in the Champions League] was a bit by ourselves. Maybe subconsciously we thought 'anyway we will win these [first two games]'.

"Now to correct that we need a great performance. What we want to do is play up to our level - that will be needed because we play against a big team."

In 2013, Wenger and co beat the Germans - who went on to win the competition - 2-0 in Munich, but exited at the last-16 stage after losing on away goals.
