Saturday's League Two predictions including Wrexham vs. MK Dons

Sports Mole provides score predictions and previews for all of today's League Two fixtures, including Wrexham vs. MK Dons.

Accrington vs. Newport (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Accrington Stanley will begin their readjustment to life back in League Two when they host Newport County at Crown Ground on Saturday.

The visitors, meanwhile, are set to compete in their 11th consecutive season at this level.

We say: Accrington Stanley 2-1 Newport County

Both teams have undergone plenty of change in terms of playing personnel during the summer transfer window so far, but the fact that they have retained their managers should help settle things down.

Accrington will be hoping to bounce back to the third tier at the first attempt this season, and we can envisage them having a little too much quality for their opponents in a potentially entertaining encounter on Saturday.

Our tipster partners are predicting under 2.5 goals.

Colchester vs. Swindon (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Colchester United's head coach Ben Garner will be hoping to get one over on his former side Swindon Town when the League Two season begins on Saturday.

Swindon, meanwhile, will begin life under the management of former Newport County boss Michael Flynn.

We say: Colchester United 1-1 Swindon Town

There is plenty of uncertainty regarding how these two teams will fare this season after each losing a significant amount of players during the transfer window so far, but neither side should be majorly concerned about any relegation troubles.

With that in mind, we can envisage a decent encounter with plenty of offensive quality on display, with both managers likely to settle for a share of the spoils to open the campaign.

Our tipster partners are predicting under 2.5 goals.

Crawley vs. Bradford (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Crawley Town will be looking to defy their status as the bookmakers' favourites for relegation from League Two when they host Bradford City in the season opener on Saturday.

The visitors, meanwhile, will expect to challenge towards the top of the table once again after missing out on promotion from the playoffs last time around.

We say: Crawley Town 1-2 Bradford City

Although Crawley are expected to struggle this season, their retention of Telford should help Lindsey's side score enough goals to keep them competitive in the division.

However, Bradford undoubtedly possess more quality throughout their squad, and we can envisage them starting the season with a victory this weekend.

Our tipster partners are predicting under 2.5 goals.

Crewe vs. Mansfield (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Both Crewe Alexandra and Mansfield Town will be bidding to make the perfect start to their 2023-24 League Two campaigns when they lock horns on the opening matchday on Saturday afternoon.

Crewe finished 13th in the fourth tier last season, while Mansfield were eighth, only missing out on a position in the playoffs on goal difference, and they will be aiming to challenge for the top seven once again this term.

We say: Crewe Alexandra 1-1 Mansfield Town

This is a really difficult match to call, as there is not too much between the two sides in terms of quality. The two teams played out a 1-1 draw when they last locked horns in January, and we can see the same result occurring on Saturday, which both managers would likely take if it were offered ahead of kickoff.

Our tipster partners are predicting under 2.5 goals.

Doncaster vs. Harrogate (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Two teams that struggled in League Two last season will meet on the opening matchday of the 2023-24 campaign, with Doncaster Rovers welcoming Harrogate Town to the Eco-Power Stadium.

Doncaster finished 18th in League Two last term, three points above 19th-placed Harrogate, and both sides will be hoping to show huge improvement during the new campaign.

We say: Doncaster Rovers 2-2 Harrogate Town

Harrogate actually won the corresponding match 2-0 last season, but the two teams played out a 2-2 draw in their last meeting in April. There is not much to choose between the sides, and we are expecting a draw this weekend, but there is plenty of attacking quality in both teams, so it should be an entertaining affair.

Our tipster partners are predicting under 2.5 goals.

Forest Green vs. Salford City (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Forest Green Rovers will mark their return to League Two by taking on Salford City in the season opener on Saturday.

The visitors missed out on promotion from the fourth tier's playoffs last season, and they will be hoping to push on once again.

We say: Forest Green Rovers 1-1 Salford City

Both teams possess plenty of firepower, but Salford appear more likely to have a stronger overall balance throughout their team, especially with the additions they have made to their defensive unit.

However, Horseman will be keen to make a strong first impression in his first game in charge at Forest Green, and we can envisage both managers being content with sharing the spoils in the opening game of the season.

Our tipster partners are predicting under 2.5 goals.

Grimsby Town vs. AFC Wimbledon (Saturday, 3.00pm)

The EFL League Two is set to get underway this weekend, and Grimsby Town will be hoping to get their season off to a winning start when they play host to AFC Wimbledon at Blundell Park on Saturday.

The hosts finished last season in 11th place with 61 points, 15 behind the top six sides, while the visitors only managed a 21st-place finish with 48 points, which was just 10 more than Rochdale at the foot of the table.

We say: Grimsby Town 2-1 AFC Wimbledon

Both sides have bolstered their attacking threat over the summer, and with most teams likely to need a few matches to get back to full match fitness, we expect that both these sides will get on the scoresheet, but feel that the hosts will edge it by the odd goal in the end.

Our tipster partners are predicting under 2.5 goals.

Morecambe vs. Walsall (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Morecambe and Walsall will do battle against each other in their 2023-24 League Two curtain-raiser at the Mazuma Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Both teams endured largely disappointing league campaigns last time out, and they will be keen to kick off on a positive note this time around.

We say: Morecambe 2-1 Walsall

The teams are on a decent run of results heading into this one, and both will fancy their chances of coming away with all three points. That said, we are backing the home side to just about edge their visitors come the end of the 90 minutes.

Our tipster partners are predicting under 2.5 goals.

Stockport vs. Gillingham (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Stockport County manager Dave Challinor pictured on August 23, 2022© Reuters

Stockport County kick off their 2023-24 League Two campaign against Gillingham at Edgeley Park on Saturday afternoon.

The hosts narrowly missed out on promotion to League One last season, and they will be aiming to compete near the top end of the table once again, while the visitors finished 17th in League Two, in what was a disappointing campaign.

We say: Stockport County 2-0 Gillingham

Although Gillingham have strengthened ahead of the new season, they should be no match for Stockport County, who should undoubtedly be competing for automatic promotion this season.

We expect a fairly comfortable victory for the hosts in their first league game, as long as there is no hangover from their gutting defeat at Wembley last season.

Our tipster partners are predicting under 2.5 goals.

Sutton vs. Notts County (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Sutton United take on Notts County at the VBS Community Stadium in their opening game of the League Two season on Saturday afternoon.

The hosts finished 15th in League Two in the 2022-23 campaign, while the visitors won promotion from the National League at Wembley in dramatic fashion, and they are set to play their first EFL game in over four years.

We say: Sutton United 0-2 Notts County

Notts County racked up an incredible 107 points in the National League last season, and fifth-tier sides have a history of adapting well to life in League Two, with the likes of Tranmere Rovers and Bristol Rovers achieving back-to-back promotions in recent years.

Williams has also strengthened his squad considerably with some high-profile signings, so we expect them to get their season off to the perfect start against a Sutton United side that was very poor at the back end of the previous season.

Our tipster partners are predicting over 2.5 goals.

Tranmere vs. Barrow (Saturday, 3.00pm)

A general shot of a football from May 2022© Reuters

Tranmere Rovers take on Barrow at Prenton Park in their opening game of the League Two season on Saturday afternoon.

The hosts will be looking to get underway with a win under Ian Dawes, who was offered the manager's job permanently in the summer after a caretaker spell, while the visitors' aim will be to build on their solid 2022-23 campaign under Pete Wild.

We say: Tranmere Rovers 1-1 Barrow

Based on last season's league standings, the two sides should be fairly evenly-matched, so we are expecting a draw this weekend.

Tranmere should be good enough to pick up at least a draw on home soil, especially considering Norris and Dennis could get some minutes after returning from injury, and they are more likely to take all three points.

Our tipster partners are predicting under 2.5 goals.

Wrexham vs. MK Dons (Saturday, 3.00pm)

Wrexham's first season back in the EFL commences this Saturday afternoon, when they take on MK Dons at the Racecourse Ground.

The Red Dragons won promotion from the National League in dramatic style last season, and their first season in League Two since 2008-09 gets underway against MK Dons, who were relegated from League One in the 2022-23 campaign.

We say: Wrexham 2-1 MK Dons

Wrexham are riding the crest of a wave at the moment, and they should be backed by a huge crowd at the Racecourse Ground in their first EFL game since 2009, while MK Dons have not performed well in pre-season.

As such, we expect the hosts to kick off their first game of the season with a victory, building momentum ahead of what should be another season where they are battling for promotion.

Our tipster partners are predicting a home win.
