Gianluca Zambrotta to leave AC Milan

Zambrotta to leave Milan

Gianluca Zambrotta has confirmed that today's 2-1 win over Novara was his last game for AC Milan.

The 35-year-old moved to the San Siro from Barcelona in 2008 and has gone on to make over 80 appearances for the Rossoneri.

However, the Italian international defender has said that this move does not signal the end of his playing career.

"This was my last match at San Siro," Zambrotta told Sky Sport Italia. "It's very hard to speak during a moment like this. Emotions are taking over everything.

"It's really strange to see all the others wave goodbye to Milan here. My last game at San Siro is a very special moment, but it will not be the last match of my career.

"I have not decided yet where my future lies, though. We'll see."

Zambrotta has 96 caps for his country.
