Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes: 'Win was thoroughly deserved'

McInnes: 'Win was thoroughly deserved'

Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes has declared that his side "thoroughly deserved" their 2-0 win against St Mirren in the Scottish Premiership.

Goals from Niall McGinn and Shay Logan helped the Dons extend their lead at the top of the table, and McInnes believes that the result was a fair reflection of the game.

"If you'd said before the game a 2-0 victory, the clean-sheet record continuing and the winning run continuing, we've got to be happy with that," BBC Sport quotes him as saying.

"I felt we managed the game very well. We didn't have to be brilliant second half, but we did pass up a few opportunities to make it that bit more comfortable. All in all, over the piece I felt we thoroughly deserved the win."

Aberdeen now hold a four-point lead over second-placed Celtic at the top, but the Hoops could move ahead of them by winning their two matches in hand.
