Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes praises back four

McInnes praises back four

Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes has heaped praise on his defence following his side's 2-0 win away to Dundee United in the Scottish Premiership.

The Dons boss was quick to point out that the Terrors have a good goalscoring record at home, and was pleased to beat them convincingly without conceding.

"We had a really strong start and imposed ourselves with the ball and without it. We got two goals and Niall McGinn has hit the post in a very good first half," BBC Sport quotes him as saying.

"We didn't need the second half to be eventful, we just needed to manage it. Consistency of selection has helped and we have a good understanding among the back four, it's not very often Dundee United fail to score.

"We're pleased to beat a good team and we did it with a bit to spare."

The result, which came courtesy of Adam Rooney's first-half brace, sees Aberdeen move level on points with third-placed United in the table.
