Los Angeles Lakers refuse to rush Kobe Bryant comeback

A statement from the Los Angeles Lakers refuses to confirm whether Kobe Bryant will be fit for the start of the new season.

The Los Angeles Lakers have refused to set a date for the return of Kobe Bryant from an Achilles injury.

Bryant ruptured his Achilles tendon just before the beginning of last season's playoffs and the Lakers are not willing to confirm whether the 35-year-old will be fit for the start of the new campaign.

"He's progressing well and has met all the targets and milestones of his rehab, and we expect him to make a full recovery," Lakers spokesman John Black told the Los Angeles Times.

"One of the key issues is to make sure he builds up strength and endurance not only in his Achilles but also in his legs, knees, back and core."

The Lakers begin the new season on October 29 against the Los Angeles Clippers.
