Josh Smith plays down talk of Greg Monroe rift during the off-season

Detroit Pistons forward Josh Smith has played down any talk of a rift with teammate Greg Monroe.

Rumours circled over the summer suggesting that then restricted free agent Monroe only wanted to re-sign with the franchise if Smith was traded to another team.

"We're just going to continue to work, be in a positive, energetic environment," said Smith, according to the Detroit Free Press.

"I wish nothing but the best for Greg. I hope he gets what he's looking for. If we're succeeding as a team, I don't see where he wouldn't get his money."

The Pistons are back in action on October 29 when they open their season against the Denver Nuggets.
