Kyrie Irving out for three to four months with fractured left kneecap

Cleveland Cavaliers shooting guard Kyrie Irving will miss the remainder of the playoff final series against the Golden State Warriors after fracturing his left kneecap.

Cleveland Cavaliers shooting guard Kyrie Irving is to miss the remainder of the playoff final series having been diagnosed with a fractured kneecap.

Irving limped out of Cleveland's game-one defeat to the Golden State Warriors, with an MRI result now revealing that the 23-year-old will require season-ending surgery.

It is being reported by several sources, including The AP, that Irving will need between three and four months to recover from the necessary procedure on his left knee.

Game two between the sides begins on Sunday evening at the Oracle Arena.
