The Miami Heat kept their play-off hopes on track after posting their biggest win of the season over the Brooklyn Nets.

Kelly Olynyk scored 25 points and Derrick Jones Jr finished with 18 in the 117-88 victory at AmericanAirlines Arena.

The 29-point gap handed Brooklyn their largest loss of the season and leaves Miami in 10th place in the Eastern Conference, one game behind the Orlando Magic and Charlotte Hornets.

The Magic, meanwhile, did no harm in their quest for their first play-off berth in seven years with a 117-112 win over the Indiana Pacers.

And Eastern Conference rivals the Detroit Pistons, in seventh place, quickly clinched 42 points in the first quarter and held a 33-point lead at half-time as they topped the Cleveland Cavaliers 129-93.

In Denver, the Nuggets fell 120-112 to the New Orleans Pelicans.

Down 19 points in the first-half, the Pelicans fought back to hand the Nuggets their second consecutive home loss.

Jrue Holiday top-scored with 29 points and Julius Randle scored 28.

The Philadelphia 76ers struggled without injured All-Star Joel Embiid as the Golden State Warriors prevailed 120-117.

Ben Simmons recorded his second straight triple-double – the 22nd of his career – with 25 points, 15 rebounds and 11 assists but was overshadowed by 28 points from Stephen Curry and 34 from Kevin Durant.

In the night's other games, the Los Angeles Lakers suffered another set-back, losing 118-109 to the Phoenix Suns, the Memphis Grizzlies overcame the Dallas Mavericks 111-81 and the San Antonio Spurs defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder 116-102.

Elsewhere, Donovan Mitchell's career-high 46 points helped pushed the Utah Jazz to a 115-11 win over the Milwaukee Bucks.
